I am currently using a BioTek ELx405 plate washer and am having some clogging issues with the aspiration manifold. Is there a wire tool available to manually clear the aspiration tips? What other methods do you recommend to clean the manifold?
We have a stylus kit available for manually cleaning the ELx405 manifolds. This kit will contain 2 stylus', one for each manifold. The kit part number is 7100025 and can be ordered through our Customer Care department.
Additionally, the ELx405 Operator's Manual (available on BioTek's Customer Resource Center) contains guidelines for keeping the instrument running as expected. There is also information there regarding the use of protein rich reagents and the use of an enzymatic detergent for cleaning the instrument. The Preventative Maintenance chapter also discusses built in maintenance programs that should be run on a periodic basis. These are BioTek's basic recommendations and can be adjusted as necessary if you find that your use of the instrument requires more frequent maintenance.
