Non-Alcoholic Steatohepatitis (NASH) Imaging Assay

NASH is a condition in which fat builds up in the liver. Understanding the intracellular absorption of free fatty acids and their role in cellular cytotoxicity is critical towards elucidating the causes of NASH. iCell hepatocytes 2.0 from Cellular Dynamics International (CDI) are treated with various concentrations of oleic: palmitic free fatty acid mixture. After incubation (24 hours), cells are fixed and stained with DAPI (nuclei), Texas red phalloidin (cytoskeleton) and BODIPY 493/503 (lipids).
